Our History

Kenneth J. Jones, Inc. was initially created by our founder, Ken Jones, in January 1978. Our first office was located on the corner of King Georges Road and Crows Mill Road in the Fords section of Woodbridge Township in Middlesex County, New Jersey.

At that time, we were known as Kenneth J. Jones Associates.

Although we didn't belong to a multiple listing service at that time, Ken used his innovative advertising and aggressive marketing programs to become dominant player in the greater central New Jersey real estate market in less than a year.

We grew quickly and Ken won several awards for "Best Advertising in New Jersey" from the New Jersey Press Association. He expanded into new construction and renovations while continuing to grow the already successful brokerage division.

In the early 1980's, the residential brokerage business slowed to a crawl due to historically high mortgage interest rates which hovered near 20%. The steep decline in sales volume caused many real estate firms to close their doors forever.

But, at that time, Ken was experiencing a growing demand for his real estate appraisal expertise and sustained the company by expanding into the real estate appraisal sector.

And, what started as a temporary aside to our brokerage business, turned into a major source of business which quickly took on a life of its own.

The company created a new persona as a real estate broker and appraisal firm which specialized in real estate litigation matters, including real property tax appeals, eminent domain and condemnation issues, bankruptcy, and various others. However, the company always retained its real estate brokerage business.

Ken also became a New Jersey Certified Instructor for real estate sales and broker licensing in 1983. And, in 1991, Ken responded to the demand for real estate appraiser education and opened his own professional education service, the Institute of Real Estate Technologies, writing his own accredited courses and seminars, and teaching them throughout the eastern United States.
