Sacrifice: A Reminder

Someone just sent me an email containing these photos.

I just thought it would be good to post them as a reminder that many of our sons, brothers, sisters, daughters, fathers, mothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends have volunteered to place their lives on “hold” and in danger of never seeing their loved ones again so that we may be free.

DustStorm

Let us not squander our freedom and the sacrifice being made by these fine patriots. Let us not allow our freedom to be taken from us by our own government. Surely, we must have enough decency and honor to stand up for freedom at home while these brave and honorable people stand up for our freedom in foreign lands, even as our federal government wrings its hands for months as to whether or not to send more of our friends, neighbors and co-workers to defend those already standing in the line of fire every day and night.

DirtBeds

And, as we prepare to crawl into our soft, warm, secure beds each night, it would do us good to remember these brave and selfless volunteers in our prayers; these, who, sadly, are never publicly honored in life and rarely publicly honored in death, who are all but forgotten by all but their family and friends, who face a violent end to their life every moment they are in the theater of battle so we, our children and grand children can sleep in peace and security.

Remember this; if not for their overwhelming sense of patriotism and duty that compels them to volunteer to protect us, it might be you and I facing death at the hands of our enemies, and sleeping with the scorpions and snakes in all types of foul weather in hand-dug holes in the ground.
